As part of our ongoing corporate mission
to be the "best possible company," and as set forth in our 2006 "Code
of Conduct for Hitachi Metals Group Companies," we
at Hitachi Metals Group will develop awareness of protecting and handing over
the global environment to the next generation, and we will ensure effective
utilization of limited natural resources, with full consideration for the environment.
We at Hitachi Metals Group recognize that current century has been heralded as
the century of the environment, and we are promoting management measures that contribute to sustainable development for humankind
and protect our irreplaceable natural environment, Planet Earth.
As a materials manufacturer positioned upstream in the flow of industry, we have
always taken our significant environmental responsibilities seriously. Our efforts
have included contributing to establishment of a recycling-oriented society and
the promotion of Earth-friendly manufacturing and research and development activities
aimed at protecting the environment and reducing the environmental burden.
Hitachi Metals Group also have introduced environmental accounting procedures
created to verify the financial aspects of its environmental activities, and
the Group continues working to uncover other environmental issues in need of
