Hitachi Metals is a materials manufacturer that has gained distinction for its high-quality technology and outstanding development capabilities. In the century since its beginnings in 1910 as the Tobata Foundry Co., Hitachi Metals has endeavored to contribute to society and practice quality-based management. It has contributed to a better society through truly original products and has relentlessly pursued growth.
Operating in the highly functional materials field, our three business segments include High-Grade Metal Products and Materials (high-grade specialty steels, rolls, amorphous metals, cutting tools), Magnetic Materials (magnets, information system components and materials), and High-Grade Functional Components and Equipment (high-grade casting components for automobiles, piping components and construction components). We utilize core technologies in the automobile, electronics and industrial infrastructure areas to advance business globally.
Our approach to environmental preservation will be critical in determining future areas of potential growth. Indeed, as a materials manufacturer we assume a major role in promoting environmental preservation and have made it indispensable to our management policy. This includes efforts toward zero emissions and energy conservation, such as with lightweight and increasingly fuel-efficient automobiles, the elimination of harmful substances in electronics and electrical machinery and the recycling of waste. In each business area, we have made the effective utilization of precious natural resources and the ability to consistently offer environmentally sound, high-end products through sophisticated eco-friendly manufacturing expertise of primary importance to our mission. Through these efforts, the Hitachi Metals Group pursues opportunities to create new growth.
