MRI technology uses magnetic resonance
to create cross-sectional images of the human body. The system
measures the distribution of hydrogen molecules, one of the two
elements in water, which makes up much of our bodies. Getting clear
images requires sophisticated magnetic circuit design to generate
a powerful and extremely uniform magnetic field in a space large
enough to hold a human being. It also requires advanced assembly
technology.
MRI magnetic circuits built with our NEOMAX magnets meet all these requirements
and more. They offer low operating costs, and have a small leakage field (i.e.,
little magnetism is leaked into the surrounding area), thus greatly reducing
the size of the system, an important advantage.
Our magnet technology is helping to spread MRI systems, a safe, state-of-the-art
alternative to CAT scanning, which subjects patients to dangerous radiation.
