Hitachi Metals' research institutes and development centers use "Materials Magic" as their symbol. In their respective research fields, these laboratories promote development activities, targeting next-generation basic and platform technologies. Our strenuous efforts are rewarded by our products' high market shares and the high esteem in which they are held, as evidenced by such awards as the Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun's "10 Best New Products Prize."
Production Systems Laboratory
The Production Systems Laboratory's mission is to simultaneously undertake the development of new products and production technologies. Making use of various individual elemental technologies, leveraging the speed that results from drawing on our overall capabilities, we provide to the Hitachi Metals' Group affiliates support for the development of new products and new technologies.

Casting Technology Research Laboratory
Established as the primary research base for our Automotive Components
Division, this laboratory conducts research and development on the latest technologies
relating to such topics as environmental countermeasures for automobiles and vehicle
miniaturization, which includes everything from materials to units.
The following are the primary research themes:
- Development of CAE analyzing and RP testing technologies to respond to ultra-short
delivery periods
- Development of automotive emissions-related products as an environmental countermeasure
- Development of auto-body parts and test-drive
components as part of vehicle miniaturization

Metallurgical Research Laboratory
The Metallurgical Research Laboratory, with its over 50-year history, is one of the few laboratories in the country that specializes in the research of special metals. Research has been divided into the following themes: electronics materials, new materials, ultra-resistant environmental materials, machine tool materials, process technology and analysis technology
